However, sometimes, there are very small or minutes problems in garage door opener, which the homeowners can handle without any need of the professional companies. In this article, we will try to discuss some of them so as to cut the cost.

If you use garage door openers that did not need the help of a professional company, you can also fix their simple problems without the use of professional companies. Sometimes, you are faced with broken garage door spring or broken garage door cable. If you feel confident, you can do them on your own. However, if you feel that you may not be able to DIY, there should be no hesitation in calling the professional company or expert in your area.

Let’s discuss some of the situations that can be handled in-house:

Trouble 1: Garage door does not open

Sometimes, the garage door does not open. This is a simple problem. If you happen to use an automatic garage operator with a remote control, the issue may be with the remote. Instead of worrying about the garage door opener , spring or cable, check the remote control and see whether it still provides sufficient power to send a signal. Sometimes, the same problem props up due to faulty installation, in which the receiver is not receiving the signals properly.

If you find out that there is nothing wrong with the remote, you can check the track. Sometimes, it is obstructed due to something tucked in between. In this case, garage door opener should be replaced if it can’t be salvaged.

Trouble 2: Garage door does not close

Now, the situation is changed. Your garage door opens but it does not close. The problem might be with the beam sensor. There are new designs of the garage doors where an integrated beam sensor tells you whether there is something obstructing the channel or not. Of course, this feature serves as a safety measure by preventing crushing something.

If the problem is with the beam sensor, you should check the installation. If the installation is not done properly, it may cause giving false indications, which will result in your garage door opening but not closing.

Trouble 3: garage door makes a squeaky sound

If you are using chain-driven garage doors, you may find them noisier than those using belts. But if the garage door is making some squeaky noises and vibrations, you should check whether there is anything wrong with the belt or the chain.

Garage door opener repair and general repair can be handled in-house only if you feel confident that you can do it and if you have some necessary tools. If you feel that you would not be able to handle the situation and may end up wasting your time, there is no worry in calling a professional company that can handle all types of garage door repair and service needs.
